The Carolina Panthers are in pursuit of a win that would make them 15-0 for the season, but in order to get there they’ve got to get past a division rival. And even though the Atlanta Falcons have struggled since starting the season 5-0, the Panthers’ defense knew they’d have their hands full with wide receiver Julio Jones.
Cornerback Josh Norman has had a sensational year, but even as the Panthers whitewashed the Falcons 38-0 earlier in the year, Jones had six catches for 88 yards. Sunday, he’s doing a heck of a lot more damage than that and he’s got the Georgia Dome believing that their Falcons can spoil Carolina’s perfect season after an unreal 70-yard touchdown catch to give them a 14-10 lead late in the third quarter.
In case you've forgotten, Julio Jones is still incredible. pic.twitter.com/dmqhKhHKML

That’s a GIF of Jones going up for a jump ball 50 yards downfield against All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly, who is a leading candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, and making him look like a helpless child as he went up over the top of him. And it’s not like Kuechly is just your average linebacker, either. He had a 38.1″ vertical at the NFL Scouting Combine coming out of Boston College.
Still, Jones is a freak and he went up and did this and now the Falcons lead late in the fourth quarter. On the day, Jones currently has nine catches for 178 yards and that unreal touchdown with 11:31 remaining.
