The New York Jets lost two offensive linemen in the first half versus Arizona. The second half didn’t get much better.New York inside linebacker Darron Lee with an ankle injury. He is listed as doubtful to return.
Lee was New York’s first-round pick in this past spring’s draft at No. 20 overall. Lee was an excellent linebacker at Ohio State each of the past two falls, recording 146 total tackles, including 27.0 for loss, 11.0 sacks and three interceptions over 28 games.
He hasn’t made any huge splash plays, but Lee has been solid for the Jets defense. He came into Monday with 28 total tackles and 0.5 sacks.
Lee is just one of a rash of injuries the Jets have suffered Monday night. Wide receiver Charone Peake left the game with a chest issue and is listed as questionable to return. In the first half, right tackle Brent Qvale and left guard James Carpenter each left with injuries. Carpenter returned, but Qvale is listed as doubtful due to a stinger.
This wasn’t a good time for the Jets to suffer a rash of injuries. New York came into Monday with its backs against the wall with a record of 1-4. The Jets trail the Cardinals by 25 points with under four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, so unless they mount the greatest Monday night comeback since Vinny Testaverde, the Jets will fall into last place in the AFC East.
With a loss, New York will also be one of only two teams with just one win or fewer in the AFC.
